Bio: Katie is an artist in the Issaquah Highlands specializing in colorful patterned paintings inspired by the natural world. Using stamps, stencils, and brushwork, she incorporates rhythm and pattern into her paintings to express a sense of positive energy and restful retreat.
On getting unstuck: “Movement usually helps—going for a swim really opens up my creativity! I also like walking in my neighborhood…Sometimes just switching to work on a different painting helps answer questions on the first, too!”
On inspiration: “I’ve always been drawn to the beauty and sense of awe that comes from nature, and I try to bring that feeling with me into my art.”
On painting duos: Her habit of creating sets of two paintings might trace back to the fact she’s an identical twin.
Favorite place near Issaquah: “I love the shops in Gilman Village and Issaquah Coffee. Walking in the Issaquah Highlands is one of my favorite things. The scenery is just so beautiful. I recommend checking out Grand View Park or Central Park for mountain views!”
